These exquisite mass timber structures mark the ambitious continuation of an economic transition for the Michipicoten First Nation on the shores of Lake Superior. The sculptural picnic area structures serve as a community cultural commons and as rest area for weary travelers along the length of Lake Superior. The success of the intricate timber structures signals the intent for future expansion. Glulam decking was pushed to it’s limits to achieve a thin profile and keep costs down. Timber connections were worked on collaboratively with the timber fabricator, ensuring the beautiful outcome all parties imagined
